Adrienne Retief

Adrienne is a practicing architect and architectural illustrator who also happens to be a hopelessly passionate watercolor painter. She loves to share that passion with others and her particular interest lies in travel sketching and watercolor painting. She believes nothing anchors memories of the experience of place quite like the act of sketching and painting on location. She offers watercolor workshops locally and abroad where she encourages participants to explore the magic of watercolor for a few hours; a day; a week, or perhaps even a lifetime. Adrienne has travelled widely, and her travel memories inform much of her work.

Adrienne is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama, and her paintings are in private collections in the USA, Great Britian, the Netherlands, and South Africa. She currently has a piece in the prestigious National Watercolor Society’s 104th International Open Exhibition, and one of her paintings was recently purchased for the permanent collection of the Heritage Hall Museum in Talladega, Alabama. Adrienne lives in historic Roebuck Springs, AL with her cat Henri.
